High George: One of the Best Rooftop Bars in the State
The “Best of Connecticut” rankings this year covered more than 125 categories, including a whole slew of different wining and dining establishments. Finalist locations were submitted by Connecticut Magazine readers and sorted by the publication’s staff.
We’re happy to say that High George landed on the short list in the “Rooftop Bar” category, amid some very good company indeed. We thank everybody who provided feedback and got our new but already beloved eatery and lounge in this prestigious lineup!

Our rooftop bar and restaurant offers a winning combination of location, location, location alongside impeccable eats and drinks. High George is open Tuesday through Saturday for breakfast and dinner, and—biased as we are—we certainly recommend trying both on for size.
For that most important meal of the day, High George tempts with such plates as Lemon Ricotta Pancakes (topped with honest-to-goodness Connecticut maple syrup as well as blueberries), Smoked Salmon Toast, and a formidably packed Breakfast Sandwich anchored by your choice of Berkshire ham, sausage, bacon, or veggies and dressed up with an egg, greens, cheddar cheese, and aioli.
When it comes to dinner, meanwhile, you’ll likely want to start with something like the Salmon Chicharron, the Charred Olives, the Pickled Veggies, or the P.E.I. Mussels—or perhaps the seductive Duck Wings, served with yogurt, sherry glaze, and mint pistachio crumb. Entrees currently on the menu range from Hanger Steak and the High George/Hamilton Park cheeseburger to Striped Bass and Shrimp Scampi. Wrap everything up in a bow by ordering dessert: the Vanilla Flan, maybe, or the Triple Fudge Chocolate Cake.
High George takes its refreshments mighty seriously: Toast the view and the good cheer with a specialty cocktail such as the Crushed Dark n Stormy, the La Marina Mule, or the Cucumber Bee’s, or opt for a glass of wine or a cold beer—perhaps a local Connecticut craft brew.
